12V Camping Fan Power Use and Battery Runtime

12V camping fan battery drain depends on the fan’s actual input, speed setting, operating time and supported supply. This site has not conducted the fan tests previously described.

Correction — October 22, 2026: Earlier versions included unsupported first-hand testing or experience claims. Those claims have been removed. This guide does not report measurements made by Wild Smart Gear.

Record demand at the speed you use

Use model documentation or a representative measurement for each speed. A maximum rating is not necessarily the average consumption at a lower setting. Confirm voltage and connector/current requirements.

Calculate an illustrative night

A hypothetical constant 8W fan for 8 hours consumes 64Wh at that measurement point. If its input is 12V, an 8W draw corresponds to about 0.67A on that ideal basis. These are arithmetic inputs, not results for a named fan.

Include other equipment

A fridge and electronics sharing the battery need their own budget. Conversion and output overhead may matter. Follow placement and temperature instructions; a fan does not make unsafe battery storage acceptable.
